The Word (Nai & Grace) is a material exploration of language and its image created during a prolonged cognitive healing process. The work consists of two texts: a gift of calligraphy by Nai Lin Chang and the artists’ 2024 sketchbook that chronicles works in clay alongside notes from her neuro-oncologist. These texts are joined by a series of ceramic forms, hung in an irregular grid and colored with white slip. The work grapples with language and time, probing both system’s limits and expansive properties.
